Rob McCarthy is a children's educator, percussionist, composer, arranger, and actor. He is currently a licensed educator in Washington D.C., teaching music for Pre-K students in DC Public Schools, and performs in the drum line for the NFL's Washington Commanders.
Rob received his bachelor's degree in Psychology with a Minor in Music from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. Rob graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a Masters Degree in Music Education, where he studied with Dr. Rhoda Bernard. Rob was bestowed the Boston Conservatory Music Education Award for the class of 2015. He is a licensed educator in the District of Columbia.
Rob has trained in theater, and has had the privilege of performing in several productions of Ideas, Not Theories, a children's theatrical music performance by Reynaliz Herrera.
Rob also enjoys composing and arranging music for student ensembles; his composition "Tiger's Blood" for percussion ensemble was premiered at PASIC 2013, and has been named "Editor's Choice" on JWPepper. In 2024 his piece "Musou Tsuribashi" also was performed at PASIC.
